downflow
The BioWaterPool downflow zone unit is a simple, modular distribution system with integrated cleaning for the quick and safe installation of poured gravel/zeolite filters in BioWaterPools.
In the simplest case, the filter is attached directly to the swimming area. A ST submersible pump can be used to suck in below the BioWaterPool downflow zone unit, so that the water from the swimming area flows through the filter zone from top to bottom. The uniform water level above the filter ensures a uniform water pressure, which ensures an even flow through the filter. It is recommended to install a ST skimmer flap between the filter and swimming areas.
Interpretation: For every 10 m³ of water (= maximum 1 bather per day), 2 m³ of DoloSafe-XS 4/6 or WM ZeoSafe are required. Filter flow rate at least 2 m³/h per m² filter area.
- optimal flow through defined water flow
- Cleaning with air purging
- easy accessibility (serviceability)
- quick, error-free installation
- stable construction, high durability
- modular structure
- Design of the facility as a natural pool according to ÖNORM L1128
What is special about the “downflow” filter system
by BIOFERMENTA
The simplicity
Particularly noteworthy about the BioWaterPool downflow is the plug-in system of the adjustable feet and the flushing lines with O-rings and the easy assembly of these prefabricated parts.
In the grilles themselves, a maintenance opening in the form of a tube with a cover for cleaning is provided at the factory for every 2 m² (1 x 2 m). Although these composite panels can be cut, for simpler construction it is recommended to design the filter zone in such a way that it can be reduced to a multiple of these dimensions.
The unique filter materials
In principle, a variety of filter materials can be fed with the downflow system. However, two filter materials are particularly recommended: WM ZeoSafe and DoloSafe-XS (certified dolomite chippings 4/6 mm).
WM ZeoSafe is the higher quality filter material; it contains a specially prepared and therefore low-phosphate zeolite. Systems that are equipped with zeolite as a filter are referred to as natural pools category 5. Zeolite is a natural cation exchanger and has several functions in water treatment that optimize nutrient management. Fertilization is simplified, the sudden appearance of nitrite is avoided, nutrients for biofilm and plants are enriched and presented locally in the filter, whereby the biofilm shifts even more completely into the filter and the tank walls become even cleaner.
